Far East’s expanded surface mapping and sampling at the four defined epithermal prospect areas within its Woyla project has identified two new quartz veins in it’s Phase 2 drill program which is under way and progressing well.

One of these quartz veins is located about 200m northwest of the Rek Rinti prospect area where detailed mapping has confirmed the vein occurrence in an artisanal mining pit.

This vein is interpreted to be part of the Rek Rinti vein system where bonanza grade gold and silver was intersected during Far East Gold’s (ASX:FEG) highly successful Phase 1 drill program.

It is located next to the northeast extent of a 1.8km induced polarisation resistivity anomaly zone interpreted from the IP survey completed last year and is characterised by crystalline, massive quartz with minor chalcedonic bands.

Further additional new vein discoveries within Rek Tinti are expected to be made as the detailed surface mapping proceeds.

Meanwhile, the second vein discovery – Aloe Kamara – could potentially be more significant for the company as it is located about 3km southeast of Rek Rinti and could potentially open up a fifth epithermal prospect area within the Woyla project in Indonesia.

This vein is about 10m wide with an apparent east-west strike that dips to the north and is characterised by massive crystalline quartz and local breccia that contains coarse blebs of galena and sphalerite of up to 10% with pyrite.

More importantly, it is located within the permitted PIPPIB area, which allows the company to explore this area immediately.

Assays of samples taken from both vein discoveries are pending.

Aggressive drill program underway

Far East’s Phase 2 drill program comprises some 10,000m of resource delineation and scout drilling across three of the four main epithermal veins systems (Anak Perak, Rek Rinti and Aloe Eumpeuk) at the project.

Two rigs will assess the resource potential of the Agam vein at Rek Rinti to follow-up on significant gold-silver mineralisation intersected in RRD004 and RRD007.

About 5,000m of drilling is planned for this part of the program, which should be completed early in the second quarter of 2022.

The other half of the Phase 2 program is scout drilling, starting with a four to six hole program totalling about 1,200m to test defined target areas at Anak Perak.

Once this is completed, the rig will move to Rek Rinti to continue testing defined vein targets including untested veins and following-up to intervals of significant gold-silver mineralisation intersected during the Phase 1 program.

The scout drill program will also test new target areas starting with the Aloe Eumpuek prospect area south of Rek Rinti where surface rock chip sampling returned bonanza-grade gold-silver assays from samples of ginguro-banded quartz vein rubble.
