Four high-priority targets at Recharge Metals’ flagship Express lithium project will get the LiDAR treatment to define potentially outcropping lithium-bearing pegmatites.

After forest fires delayed regional exploration around the James Bay lithium district, Recharge Metals (ASX:REC) is about to recommence investigation at Express using light detection and ranging (LiDAR) and high-resolution aerial imaging to survey previously identified mineralisation.

Photo interpretation targeting was previously conducted by Dahrouge Geological Consulting which revealed a significant area of outcrop within the project area, containing a substantial number of targets, which REC has interpreted as potentially representing outcropping lithium mineralisation.

Access restrictions are gradually being lifted as the fires die down and REC is geared up and ready to get back to the project, with all contracts in place for the summer field season to progress.

Express Lithium Project is strategically located approximately 12km southeast of Allkem’s (ASX:AKE) James Bay deposit, which has a resource of  37.2Mt @ 1.3% Li2O and 15km northeast of Cygnus Metals’ (ASX:CY5) Pontax lithium project, while also nestled between Brunswick Exploration’s (TSX-V: BRW) Anatacau West and Anatacau Main projects.

Beyond LiDAR

On top of the LiDAR and aerial surveying, ground exploration will be conducted and all datasets will lead Recharge to a diamond drilling campaign on key targets identified.

Recharge’s Managing Director Felicity Repacholi-Muir commented:

“The LiDAR survey is anticipated to contribute to our knowledge of the Express lithium project, with the aim of revealing unknown pegmatite targets for evaluation and validating those that we have already identified,” REC MD Felicity Repacholi-Muir said.

“These will be explored in tandem with our four existing high priority target areas at Express.

“Whilst our exploration progress has been delayed by the significant forest fires, we are encouraged by the gradual re-opening of the James Bay region for exploration.

“We eagerly await the return of safe working conditions at both our Express and Wapistan lithium projects so that we can get boots on the ground.”
