Assay results continue to demonstrate the consistency of high-grade mineralisation at Root Bay as Green Technology Metals works towards a mineral resource upgrade over the next quarter.  

As part of a large-scale 22,000m infill diamond drilling program, the results for the first nine holes for 1,183m have been received at the Root Bay project in Ontario, Canada.

Root Bay comprises several pegmatite deposits with varying degrees of exploration development and a current mineral resource of 8.1Mt at 1.32% Li20, which the program intends to upgrade from inferred to indicated.

To date 45 holes for 7,668m have been completed with assays from 36 holes still pending.

Standout results include 17.1m at 1.77% Li20 from 71m, 17.2m at 1.74% Li20 from 57.2m, 19.6m at 1.50% Li20 from 26.9m, and 16m at 1.78% Li20 from 167.1m.

Two drill rigs operating non-stop

GT1 CEO Luke Cox says the company maintains a strong focus on advancing exploration efforts at the Root Project, in addition to having multiple field teams engaged in prospecting activities.

“We currently have two drill rigs operating non-stop at Root Bay with the preliminary results continuing to instill confidence in our resource and validate the ongoing presence of consistent high-grade intercepts within the deposit.” 

What’s next?

Drill testing is planned for the Eastern and Western strike, including the new spodumene discovery 1.4km along strike and west of the Root Bay Deposit, which has extended the mineralised trend to over 2.7km.

An extensive three-phase field exploration program is also underway across the Western Hub where field crews have mobilised at the Allison project, on the edge of a fertile granite believed to be the source of LCT pegmatite occurrences in the area.

Around 10 targets have been identified for mapping, sampling and prospecting – which will be followed by stripping, channel sampling and drilling at newly generated targets later in the year.
