GT1 Encounters Stacked Pegmatites up to 18m Thick at Roots Bay

Building on the success of the first three holes at Roots Bay in March, latest drilling has revealed a shallow-dipping LCT pegmatite system with lithium grades up to 1.73% Li20.

The expanded phase-1 program of 35 diamond holes at Roots Bay is now complete, with the results from 13 diamond holes received and assays from 15 holes pending.

Some of the best results include 17.8m at 1.73% Li20 from 99.4m, 16m at 1.58% Li20 from 181.4m, and 14.3m at 1.52% Li20 from 33.1m with 13 stacked pegmatites along a 1.3km strike drilled to over 200m deep.

So far, Green Technology Metals (ASX:GT1) says the company is pleased with the results from Root Bay as the pegmatite intersections and looks forward to receiving further assays to determine the size of the potential resource.

“Our drilling and exploration focus is now centred on the 20-kilometre-long Root Bay lithium corridor, and we are excited to be undertaking extensive exploration activities over this highly prospective area to add to our current 14.4 million tonne JORC resource base,” GT1 CEO Luke Cox says.

Morrison prospect drilling results

Meanwhile, GT1 has also wrapped up the second phase of drilling at the Morrison prospect with assays from a further 15 diamond holes returned.

Highlights here include 7.63m at 1.64% Li20 from 81m, 5.46m at 1.21% Li20 from 44m, and 7.58m at 0.72% Li20 from 94m, including 3m at 1.64% Li20 from 95m.

Further delineation is being planned to identify potential higher grade pegmatite offshoots from the Morrison trend, similar in nature to McCombe and Root Bay.

Large scale exploration

A large-scale field exploration program, consisting of prospecting, mapping, and sampling, is about to begin over the Root project to identify additional new drill targets.

The focus for the field exploration program will be the northern tenement area of the Root project that has had no previous exploration to date.

On re-commencement of GT1’s diamond drilling program, Root Bay will remain the primary focus for JORC Resource definition with further drilling planned on new priority targets as well as existing targets at McCombe, Morrison and Root Lake, focusing on increasing the company’s current JORC Resource base of 14.4Mt at 1.03% Li2O.
