Future Battery Minerals’ drills will soon be spinning Stateside, as the lithium explorer targets extensions into thick lithium claystone at its Nevada project in the US.

Those extensions were first brought to light at the Western Flats region of the project area, when back in April the team intercepted major hits in a maiden drilling program.

Of note, hole WF23-011 struck 109.7m @ 766 parts per million (ppm) Li from 135.6m depth to end of hole and 44.2m @ 570ppm Li from 169.2m at hole WF23-006.

The 3,000m Phase 2 RC drilling will extend those holes, and, based on regional mapping observations, Future Battery Minerals’ (ASX:FBM) geos believe there’s high potential for shallow mineralisation to extend south and west to its Lone Mountain prospect.

On top of this, between two and four RC drill holes will test the regional Heller prospect for Li claystone potential too.

FBM has now expanded its project area at Nevada with an additional 36 new claims contiguous to Western Flats and Lone Mountain.

FBM technical director Robin Cox said the company’s in-country team has worked expediently to reach this drill-ready stage following the outstanding results of April’s NLP Phase 1 RC program.

“With permitting now approved, we look forward to commencing drilling within the next two weeks,” Cox said.

“In addition to planning and preparation works, the team has staked highly prospective ground contiguous to Western Flats and Lone Mountain.

“The plus 100m thick intercept at WF23-011 remains open to the south and west at depth and given the hole ended in mineralisation, provides the potential for the NLP prospects to host large scale, high tonnage mineralisation.”

Phase 2 RC drilling will be managed in-country with assistance from the WA-based technical team.

They’ve even asked their drilling contractor Alford Drilling to bring a larger RC rig to site, as planned depths have now increased on the back of the encouraging intersections to-date.

“Following the receiving of the Phase 1 assay results, this significant next step in exploration at NLP is highly anticipated and the FBM team look forward to the commencement of drilling,” the company stated.

Meanwhile, FBM is also conducting metallurgical testwork at its Kangaroo Hills project after completing a 5 hole drill at the lithium project near Coolgardie, WA.
