Assays are back from maiden fieldwork at Battery Age Minerals’ Tidili copper project in Morocco and surface samples show significant copper values.
After recent success at its Lake Falcon lithium project in Canada, where maiden drilling has already intersected spodumene-bearing pegmatites, Battery Age Minerals’ (ASX:BM8) first look in the field at the Tidili copper project – of which the explorer has an 85% interest in – is finding up to 2.11% Cu at surface.
Six samples have demonstrated the presence of high-grade copper mineralisation of up to 2.11% Cu at surface and is associated with anomalous silver, lead and cadmium.
BM8 says the surface sampling program to look for copper is part of a company strategy to prove up a variety of critical minerals, including lithium in Canada and zinc-lead-germanium at its Bleiberg project in Austria.
To advance its understanding of the area’s potential, the explorer says it’s planning a more extensive field campaign and has scheduled it to be carried out in the coming months.
Positive results
“We are pleased with the positive assay results returned from the surface sampling program at the Tidili copper project,” BM8 ACEO Gerard O’Donovan said.
“The high-grade copper assays, coupled with the identification of anomalous lead samples, highlight the potential of this project.
“We are excited to continue exploration activity with a follow-up field campaign, which will allow us to gain further insights into the extent of the mineralisation.”
BM8 says the future work campaign will also include systematic rock chip sampling and mapping of the mineralised corridors to gain a better appreciation of lateral continuity, strike variation and the geometry of mineralised faults.
“Beyond that, a shallow depth, hand-held diamond core drilling campaign is being considered for the testing of mineralisation below surface, grade and geometry.”
