They must be quite an efficient bunch out at Great Western Exploration’s Firebird Gold Project after completing its Phase 1 drilling less than two weeks since announcing the campaign to the market.
The explorer aircore drilled more than 3km, intersecting highly weathered Archean Greenstone volcanic sediments and mafic units within the Youanmi Greenstone Belt.
The Archean Greenstone is the well-known host of the majority of WA’s gold deposits and Great Western Exploration’s (ASX:GTE) gold in soil anomaly at Firebird had not been previously drilled.
Firebird is located 2.5km west of Western Gold Resources’ (ASX:WGR) Gold Duke project, which contains several JORC-tested mineral resources.
The aircore drilling is a precursor to the Project’s upcoming RC drilling campaign, with the Company expecting assay results in the coming weeks, funded in part from a successful $2.8 million cap raise in March.
Some of that funding is also allocated to GTE’s other projects, including exploration work at its Fairbairn copper-nickel tenements and an RC drilling program at the Atley North gold project.
