A successful two-hole diamond drill program at Goodrich has Godolphin doing backflips after intersecting copper mineralisation at the prospect in NSW’s Tier 1 Lachlan Fold Belt.

Goodrich is highly prospective for copper and forms part of the greater Goodrich-Yeoval copper-gold project.

Earlier this year, new surface geochemical and magnetic data was collected and assay results for the high-grade rock chips provided the basis for Godolphin Resources (ASX:GRL) to structure its initial drilling campaign.

The first hole, GGDD001, was drilled to 335m and included 90m of observed copper (chalcopyrite and bornite), with copper mineralisation continuing to end-of-hole.

The second hole, GGDD002, was drilled down to 282m and showed copper and molybdenum mineralisation from 30m downhole to 145m, followed by encouraging hydrothermal alteration and patchy copper mineralisation to the end of the hole.

The Goodrich prospect is located where historic drilling was focused on vein-style quartz-magnetite-chalcopyrite that found gold and molybdenum mineralisation beneath the old Goodrich mine, which was worked in the 1800s as an open cut pit with numerous shafts.

Godolphin is hoping the Goodrich prospect will add to the current Yeoval MRE, which contains 12.8Mt at 0.38% Cu, 0.14g/t Au, 2.2g/t Ag and 120ppm Mo (molybdenum).

“As a geologist it’s always thrilling to see minerals of economic value in our drill cores. After many hours of evaluating the data and designing drill holes to test the targets of interest [and] the drill program went very smoothly,” GRL MD Jeneta Owens says.

“Our geologists are currently taking additional geological measurements, collecting structural data and logging the rock types and minerals of the drill core in detail [and] once completed, the samples of core will be cut and delivered to the laboratory for analysis.”

“Goodrich is an exciting prospect and we are very keen to progress our copper projects in light of the predicted outlook for global copper demand in support of the transition towards green technologies.

“Assay results from this latest round of drilling are expected towards the end of the current quarter.”
