First pass soil sampling at Pioneer Dome West (PDW), part of Dynamic Metals’ larger Widgiemooltha project in WA, has identified a 2.8km trend of elevated lithium.

Widgiemooltha covers an extensive ~880km2 between Norseman and Kambalda, a region well known for its numerous nickel and gold mines.

The company had previously hit end of hole gold at two prospects at Widgiemooltha, along with thick, high-grade nickel in maiden drilling from Dordie Far West (DFW).

But more recently the area has emerged in significance for its lithium prospectivity, with notable spodumene deposits in the area including the Mt Marion, Bald Hill, and Buldania projects – all within 25km of Dynamic Metals (ASX:DYM) tenure.

The Pioneer Dome West tenement is also adjacent to Essential Metals’ (ASX:ESS) Dome North lithium project which hosts a resource of 11.2Mt at 1.2% Li2O2 and is subject to proposed acquisition by Develop Global (ASX:DVP).

This first pass program tested 12km of strong along the western side of PDW, adjacent to the Dome North project, and defined an elevated lithium trend (>40ppm) extending over 2.8kms.

“We are highly encouraged by these first pass results due to the size of the anomaly in this highly prospective region. There is no outcrop on this part of the tenement so applying a systematic and measured approach to exploration is the key to success for Dynamic”

Prospective for lithium-caesium-tantalum pegmatites

Dynamic’s soil sampling program is the very first systematic lithium exploration program along the prospective area PDW area, due to its historic gold and nickel exploration focus.

About 1900 soil samples were taken every 40m on 400m spaced lines to obtain geochemical data coverage across the interpreted greenstone sequence flanked on the east by the Pioneer Dome granite and to the west by regional granites.

Whilst the magnitude of the newly identified 2.8km trend is subtle, the trend’s consistency and near 3km strike length is considered highly encouraging, the company says.

Auger sampling the next step

The company is preparing to test the lithium anomaly identified in the soil sampling with an auger infill sampling program expected to commence next week.

The auger sampling will test the regolith profile along three lines, with results expected to help determine the significance of the elevated lithium trend.
