UltraMag Geophysics has identified over 277 untested anomalies at Cavalier Resources’ Ella’s Rock lithium-gold-nickel project, stating in its recent report it is “likely a world record for surveys of this size”.

Cavalier Resources (ASX:CVR) commissioned UltraMag Geophysics to undertake deep ground penetrating radar (DGPR) at its Ella’s Rock project after the company identified potential lithium, caesium, and tantalum (LCT) targets during extensive soil sampling.

DPGR is very effective in pinpointing targets when there are limited outcropping indicators, which is the case at Ella’s Rock.

“Deep Ground Penetrating Radar surveys have uncovered over 277 untested anomalies providing further evidence for the potential of LCT pegmatite targets on the greater central Fitzgerald and southern Baché geochemical target areas,” executive technical director Daniel Tuffin said.

These fresh targets could be potentially lithium-bearing pegmatite-like anomalies that show very strong correlation to existing soil samples highly supportive of LCT mineralisation.

These anomalies bear strong similarity to the lithium-bearing pegmatites previously identified at Allkem’s Mt Cattlin lithium project, also by UltraMag Geophysics, 90km south of the Ella’s Rock project.

The same DGPR technology utilised for the survey over Ella’s Rock has also previously been successful in the delineation of lithium for others like Everest Metals (ASX:EMC), MetalsGrove Mining (ASX:MGA) and Morella Mining (ASX:1MC), where the survey has matched the surface mapping and defined further pegmatite-like targets.

“What’s particularly encouraging is the exceptional correlation we’ve observed between the existing high lithium soil geochemistry anomalies, with other supportive trace elements, and the DGPR interpretation for both Fitzgerald and Baché target areas,” Tuffin noted.

“This correlation reinforces our confidence in the potential of these targets. We believe that the Ella’s Rock lithium-gold-nickel project holds significant regional potential, with these DGPR discoveries marking a critical milestone for the project.”

The southern Baché target is the largest LCT-type anomaly defined within the tenement, measuring 1.6km x 1.4km. It is also the most anomalous and prominent of the three defined targets.

Cavalier’s Ella’s Rock project consists of four exploration licences covering a large area to the east of the Forrestania Greenstone Belt and is in the right neighbourhood, with several significant lithium discoveries close by.

“Ella’s Rock is strategically positioned to the south of the Earl Grey high-grade lithium project, a joint venture between Wesfarmers and SQM slated to produce 50,000 tonnes of lithium hydroxide annually starting in 2024,” Tuffin said.

“This proximity to a near-mine ready world class lithium project further enhances the significance of the DGPR outcomes.”

The Belt also hosts the historic Diggers Rock open pit nickel mine, IGO’s (ASX:IGO) planned Diggers South underground nickel mine and Cosmic Boy nickel plant, as well as Classic Mineral’s (ASX:CLZ) new Kat Gap gold mine.

The DGPR surveys have only just scratched the surface, with the bulk of the highest grade southern geochemical target (Baché) and the northern target (Hooper) still yet to be surveyed.

Cavalier plans to drill test the targets once further environmental surveys are completed.
