Right in the heart of the prolific James Bay lithium district in Quebec, Fin Resources has begun helicopter-assisted fieldwork over the most prospective target areas at its Cancet West and Ross lithium projects.

The two projects – collectively known as Mt Tremblant – cover 150km2 of ground close to a number of sizeable lithium finds.

Nearology to world-class deposits

Fin Resources’ (ASX:FIN) 52km2 Cancet West project is about 45km west of Winsome Resources’ (ASX:WR1) Cancet lithium deposit and 100km west of Patriot Battery Metal’s (ASX:PMT) 109.2Mt @ 1.42% Li2O world-class Corvette deposit.

Then there’s the explorer’s 98km2 Ross project, close by to Critical Elements Lithium’s (TSXV:CRE) Graab prospect and Nemaska Lithium’s 36.6Mt @ 1.3% Li2O Whabouchi deposit – about 65km and 100km to the southwest respectively.

Exploration activities

A prospectivity analysis completed in August generated nine target areas at Ross and seven across Cancet West that encompass a number of lithium-caesium-tantalum pegmatite targets.

At Ross, the target areas have a general east-northwest orientation, whilst the Cancet West target areas have a general east-northeast orientation with all areas coinciding with the local geology.

Exploration contractor Mercator Geological Services is now carrying out fieldwork, including field mapping, outcrop sampling and geochemical sampling at Cancet West.

Once completed, the field team will move over to Ross to carry out the same activities over the most prospective target areas.

Fieldwork is expected to be completed by the end of September 2023.
