Full Circle Lithium (TSXV: FLCI) is claiming success with a pilot plant for lithium extraction. The company in a release this morning indicated that its first modular demonstration lithium extraction and process plant had achieved 99% recovery rates for lithium.

The plant, located in Georgia, was brought online to extract lithium for an undisclosed multinational chemical company at one of its specialty plants. The lithium was successfully extracted from lithium effluent provided by the chemical company, using proprietary extraction and processing tech that Full Circle refers to as LEP and claims is a form of direct lithium extraction.

The demo plant is said to have now been in operation for several weeks, extracting lithium across multiple cycles successfully from a brine solution. Ramp up to full and continuous processing capacity is said to be underway and will take several weeks.

Investor documents published by the company suggest that the plant is capable of producing up to 2,000 tonnes per annum of lithium carbonate, and is scalable to 10,000 tonnes per year. Once demonstrated successfully, the demo plant is expected to be expanded to a commercial scale plant.

“FCL’s large-scale Demo Plant has successfully proven the efficacy of our LEP (or DLE) technology. Through a combination of specialized senior industry knowledge, chemical treatments, filtration, absorption, advanced separation techniques, and fully vertically integrated technology, FCL has achieved an unprecedented lithium recovery rate of over 99%. This remarkable efficiency not only ensures minimal lithium waste but also significantly reduces the environmental impact of lithium production,” commented Tom Currin, COO of Full Circle Lithium.

Full Circle Lithium last traded at $0.68 on the TSX Venture.
