Europe witnessed a 3.0% rise in IT hiring activity in the mining industry in October 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics dashboard.

October 2022 has seen an increase of 6.05% in the overall hiring activity when compared with September 2022.

IT jobs accounted for a 6.52% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in October 2022, registering a decrease of 0.23% over the last three-month average share.

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in October 2022

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Europe with a share of 38.1% in October 2022, a 3.03% drop over the previous month. Database and Network Administrators and Architects came in next, claiming a share of 22.62% in October 2022, marking a 5% month-on-month decline. In the third place was Computer and Information Analysts with a share of 20.24% in October 2022, a 10.53% drop from September 2022.

Miscellaneous Computer Occupations registered a share of 15.48% in October 2022, an 18.18% rise over the previous month.

Top five mining companies in Europe’s IT recruitment activity in October 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 39.13% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Europe’s mining industry during October 2022 over previous month.

Novolipetsk Steel posted 20 IT jobs in October 2022 and registered a flat growth over the previous month, followed by En+ Group with 18 jobs and a 125% growth. ThyssenKrupp with 16 IT jobs and Heraeus with 6 jobs, recorded a 27.27% drop and a 50% drop, respectively, while Eramet recorded a flat growth with 4 job postings during October 2022.

Country-wise composition of IT hiring in Europe’s mining industry

Russia commanded a leading presence in the region’s mining industry IT hiring activity with a 46.43% share in October 2022, a 333.33% increase over September 2022. Germany featured next with a 22.62% share, down 34.48% over the previous month. Greece recorded a 7.14% share, a drop of 50% compared with September 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in October 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 80.95%, up by 1.49% from September 2022. Mid Level positions with a 10.71% share, registered a decline of 30.77% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 5.95% share, down 54.55% over September 2022, while Senior postings accounted for 2.38%, recording a month-on-month flat growth.
